Land Use – Keeping it Natural

No Tillage
Tillage of the soil can cause evaporation of many of the soil’s elements including carbon. Carbon is one of the gases that leads to global warming.

Depletion of Soils
Soils used for corn and grain are often like sand (no organic material) if they are not heavily fertilized with commercial nitrogen, potash and phosphorus .

Land Use
Unfortunately most of the land in South Western Ontario is used for growing corn, grains and soya for animal use and is not left as natural pastures. Other threats to the loss of farmland is development (urban sprawl) and aggregate extraction
