Health Benefits of Grass-Fed Beef
Grass-fed beef has four to six times lower levels of fat than corn-fed beef and only contains half the saturated fat (bad fat). This reduced level of fat makes our beef lower in calories (similar to levels in chicken). Omega fatty acids are high in grass-fed cattle (3X higher than in corn-fed beef). Omega 3 fatty acids help in healthy brain function, heart health and fighting cancer. Grass-fed beef also contain 5X more linoleic acid and 4X more vitamin E. All aid in human health.
Another benefit is herd health. Cattle are not raised in a confined area (feedlots) and are much much healthier and happy. Most folks tell us that they can taste the difference!
Health Benefits of Duck
We raise muscovy ducks that are very lean with little or no fat unlike most ducks purchased at the grocery store. Their darkly coloured meat (like wild duck meat) is extremely flavorful and nutrient dense, is an excellent source of protein and healthy fat (omega 3) as well as micronutrients including selenium, iron, and niacin. Our ducks are also lower in fat due to free range grazing and whole grain feed. Cooking our duck is like cooking steak.
Duck eggs are also nutrient dense with a similar nutrient profile to chicken eggs (with higher amounts per egg because duck eggs are larger than chicken eggs.)
We have duck eggs in the summer and fall and these eggs are more nutrient dense than chicken eggs.
